Stephen leads day-to-day operations at Stellata. He left the investing world to focus on building and leading great businesses.
Prior to founding Stellata, Stephen was an investor at Apollo Global Management, primarily focused on acquiring and overseeing investments in the education, industrials, and consumer retail sectors. Prior to Apollo, Stephen was part of the Middle Market Fund at H.I.G. Capital, primarily focused on investing in the TMT and business services sectors. He began his career in the Industrials Investment Banking group at Wells Fargo.
Stephen received his B.B.A. from the University of Texas and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Quercus stellata, also known as the post oak or iron oak, is a North American species of oak tree known for its resilience to fire, drought, and rot. We are looking for enduring businesses that will stand the test of time, not unlike the namesake tree. In addition, the post oak tree is abundant in Central Texas, where our team resides, and is the wood predominantly used to smoke Central Texas BBQ, a favorite among the Stellata team.
